What's New
Feature releases, improvements, and fixes — newest first.
Record a payment on an invoice
“Mark paid” is now “Record a payment” — enter the amount, method (cash, bank/e-transfer, cheque, or an outside card terminal), date, and a reference. The invoice moves to Partly paid or Paid based on what has actually been collected, and every payment flows into your revenue and tax reports.
Request a deposit — and let clients pay invoices online
Ask a client for a deposit straight from an invoice: set an amount, an optional due date, and a note. Every invoice email now carries a “Pay online” button — the client pays the deposit or the full balance by card on a secure Waine-hosted page, and the money settles directly to your connected Stripe account.
GST/HST and PST shown as separate tax lines
Invoices now break tax out by type, each with its own registration number — a single HST line in Ontario, separate GST 5% and PST 7% lines in BC, GST + QST in Quebec, and so on, based on where the service is supplied. Add your legal name and GST/HST and PST numbers under Settings → Tax.
Invoice snapshots and credit notes
When an invoice is issued, Waine stores a tamper-evident snapshot of exactly what the client received. Corrections are now made with proper numbered credit notes (CN-1, CN-2…) instead of editing a finalized invoice — the audit trail stays intact.
Accountant-ready tax reports
The Tax Reports page now separates tax Invoiced, Collected, and Adjusted (credit notes), with a reconciliation panel that flags any invoice whose numbers don’t line up, plus a one-click CSV export built for handing straight to your accountant.
Automatic payment and past-due notifications
Clients get a receipt by email and text when a payment lands — partial or paid in full — and an automatic reminder when an invoice goes past due with a balance still owing. You get an alert on every invoice payment.
Enterprise plan + free website builder access
The Unlimited plan is now called Enterprise, and every Enterprise business gets free access to Waine's website builder — a professional business website with no separate purchase.
Book for family members and dependents
Clients can now book appointments on behalf of a spouse, child, or another dependent from one account. Insurance intake forms and clinical notes are also now available for health-and-wellness businesses, alongside new profession templates for medical and therapeutic service providers.
Microsoft 365/Outlook and CalDAV calendar sync
In addition to Google Calendar, you can now connect Microsoft 365/Outlook or any CalDAV-compatible calendar (Apple Calendar, Fastmail, and others), with per-location scoping for multi-location businesses.
Tax-ready transaction reports
The new Tax Reports page gives you a ready-to-file summary of collected tax and net revenue, broken out by month and location — built for handing straight to an accountant.
Buy and manage your own domain
Website builder customers can now purchase and connect a custom domain directly from Waine, with renewal-reminder emails sent automatically so your site never lapses.
SMS marketing consent at booking
Clients can now opt in to promotional SMS updates right on the booking form — a separate, explicit checkbox from the appointment-reminder texts every booking already includes.
Accessibility improvements across web and mobile
Ongoing WCAG 2.2 accessibility work across the dashboard, public booking page, and mobile app — improved keyboard navigation, screen-reader labeling, and focus indicators throughout.
Simplified sign-in: email/password and passkey
Google and Apple sign-in have been removed. Email/password sign-in and passkey (WebAuthn) support on web remain fully available — existing Google/Apple accounts are prompted to set a password the next time they sign in.
WebSocket real-time dashboard
The appointment calendar and inbox now update in real time when staff take actions — no more manual refreshes. Built on a hardened WebSocket layer with per-business channel isolation.
Booking approval mode
Businesses can now switch between Manual approval (bookings land as Pending until you confirm) and Auto-confirm (clients get an instant confirmation). Set it in Settings → Booking Policies.
Revenue Protected dashboard metric
The Reports page now shows a Revenue Protected card — the total of deposits collected, no-show fees, and late-cancellation fees. See exactly how much money Waine has protected for your business.
Client self-cancel toggle
Business owners can now disable client self-cancel from Settings → Booking Policies. When off, clients see a neutral message directing them to contact the business.
Client blocklist
Staff can now block a client from their profile page. Blocked clients cannot complete new bookings online. The reason is visible only to staff — clients see a neutral slot-unavailable message.
Memberships and recurring billing
Sell monthly memberships with Stripe billing. Members get discounted rates or free services included per billing period. Full member portal with usage tracking.
Gift cards
Sell digital gift cards directly from your booking page. Clients receive a code by email and can redeem it at checkout.
Packages (pre-paid credit bundles)
Sell 5-visit, 10-visit, or custom credit bundles. Clients redeem credits when they book. Track usage per client.
Multi-location support
Unlimited plan businesses can now add multiple locations. Staff are assigned to locations, clients see location details at booking, and the calendar filters by location.
Google Calendar two-way sync
Connect your Google Calendar and appointments sync automatically in both directions. Busy blocks from your personal calendar appear as unavailable in your booking page.
Two-factor authentication
2FA is now available via email or SMS for all accounts. Recovery codes provided at enrollment. Trusted device memory for 30 days.
No-show fee auto-charge
Set a no-show fee and Waine automatically charges the saved card when you mark a client as no-show. Works with card-on-file and deposit flows.
